Donna Burke, was born in Melbourne, Australia but moved to Perth when she was two years old. She is the third child in a family of seven children and has a twin brother.
In 1996, after studying speech and drama, media and religion and teaching high school for 8 years, she moved to Tokyo where she met her husband, guitarist and writer, Bill Benfield.
Donna founded Dagmusic in 2004, a studio in Roppongi that produces music for AAA games, and a heat pad company named Hotteeze.
